It is an excellent area for a variety of outdoor activities such as walking cycling white water rafting canoeing golfing fishing or just touring around the countryside. There are many attractions within a short distance from Aberfeldy the picturesque town of Pitlochry with its Festival Theatre the fairytale Blair Castle (well worth a visit) the famous House of Bruar (for the shopaholics amongst you!) and of course the fair city of Perth which is only some 35 minutes drive away. Aberfeldy itself is not without its own visitor attractions with the Distillery and the intriguing Watermill Bookshop Gallery (winner of the best UK independent bookshop) as well as other galleries and a good range of shops. The village of Kenmore at the head of Loch Tay is only six miles from Aberfeldy and during the summer months there are regular boat trips on the loch.Enough about Aberfeldy and its environs now a little about Balnearn itself.
