The Plough Hoteloccupying a prominent site in the centre of picturesque Town Yetholm seven miles south of Kelso (B6352) offers comfortable accommodation and a congenial atmosphere. The hotel's situation makes it the natural centre of social life in the village with a log fire real ale and home cooking. The Plough in common with many of the cottages in the historic centre of Town Yetholm is officially listed and protected as a building of architectural importance. The present main building is late 18th century to early 19th century remodelled and extended late 19th to early 20th centry. However history suggests there is every likelihood of an earlier inn on this site long before the 18th century. One documentary source (circa 1860) describes the Plough as a nice respectable country Inn and the first house of entertainment in Town Yetholm where there is good accommodation for travellers and suitable stabling for horses. Nowadays car parking for guests is in front of the hotel building off the road side. Bedrooms at the Plough have recently been fully refurbished are clean sumptuously decorated and all have large en suite. All rooms have a TV and complimentary tea and coffee making facilities all told a relaxing environment in which to unwind before enjoying a meal in the restaurant or a snack at the bar.
