The School House was built by the owners of the Edgerston Estate in 1845 and the school provided primary education until 1947. In 2001 after a period of three years modifying and furnishing this listed historic building we opened the School House for bed and breakfast. We were the first BandB in the Borders to be awarded a 5 star grading by VisitScotland the first in the Borders to win their Thistle Award for the best BandB in Scotland and the first in the Borders to be awarded a 5 star gold award.The guest lounge has a country sports theme and has a TV with DVDCD player maps tourist information and library. A secure wi-fi service is available and can be accessed from all rooms.The bedroom on the ground floor has a musical theme an antique brass and iron double bed and period furnishings. The en-suite shower room has ladies haberdashery as its theme.The bedroom on the first floor reflects our collection of antique and period children's christening dresses. It has twin beds and period furniture. A private bathroom with a nautical theme is immediately next door.Breakfasts are served in our farmhouse style kitchen seated around our large beech wood table. The Aga-Rayburn range the period furniture and the large collection of kitchenalia creates a warm and informal atmosphere where guests can enjoy a wide choice of items from the breakfast menu. Packed lunches can be prepared on request to suit your requirements.Evening meals are served in our romantic minstrel gallery dining area which we have created on the mezzanine floor of the school room.
