Being in Cumbria we are close to a number of different activities such as Pony Trekking CyclingMountain Biking Fell Walking Water Sports Gliding Fishing Bird Watching Shooting or if you fancy pampering yourself there are great spa days available at nearby Center Parcs Whinfell ForestWe have Seven En-Suite Rooms in total all named after the local area.All of our bedrooms provide our guests with ample space to relax with flat screen digital plasma TV wi-fi internet access available throughout the building and tea and coffee making facilities. We try to provide our guests with everything they required to have a perfect break!Included is our Full Traditional Cumbrian Breakfast complete with our own Special Recipe Sausages the perfect end to a perfect break.We can also offer the fantastic opportunity of a relaxing fishing break as the Black Swan owns the fishing rights on a 4.5 mile stretch of the picturesque River Eden famous for Trout and Salmon fishing. Close by there are also several fishing lakes including Cocklakes Trout Farm Blencarn Fishing Lake Winns Pond and Bessy Beck Trout Farm all within a 10-15 minute drive away! A huge advantage to the fisherman coming to this area is the famous John Norris of Penrith shop is here for all your fishing tackle needs.

Owned and run by the husband and wife team of Jeff and Alex Fazal Laurel House built in 1750 is a traditional Cumbriam farmhouse where we offer a warm welcome and a comfortable and tranquil stay for the discerning traveller.Our elegant and spacious bedrooms are well appointed with either Kingsize or Superking size beds all complete with luxurious Egyptian cotton bedding.Flatscreen TV's safes hairdryers trouser presses radio alarm clocks and teacoffee facilities are standard in all rooms along with comfortable seating areas supplied with tub armchairs and footstools.Each room has a private modern bathroom or shower room supplied with large luxury towels towel rails bathrobes and quality toiletries.Alex's traditional Cumbrian breakfasts along with Jeff's homemade bread were awarded a Visit Britain Breakfast Award in 2010.Served in our Orangery conservatory it consists of fresh fruit locally sourced produce fresh coffee breakfast tea with a vegetarian option.The comfort and ambience of Laurel House was recognised by Visit Britain in 2010 by a 4 Star Gold Award rating with the prestigous award of 5 Stars in 2011.Just 10 minutes from J40 of the M6 in the Eden Valley viilage of Culgaith we are ideally placed for visiting family staying at Center Parcs or as an ovenight stay on the way to Scotland.Free WiFi and private off road parking is available.Unfortunately we cannot accommodate children under 16 petsor arrivals after 9pm.
