Our aim is to offer our guests a warm welcome in stylish yet authentic surroundings with the very best in creature comforts excellent cooking using high quality local ingredients a range of local beers and ciders and great wines all served by friendly and efficient village staff. In short a great taste of Herefordshire. Our History:The Kilpeck Inn was originally a cottage built circa 1650 from stones taken from the local Norman castle when it was broken down during the English Civil War. The Castle's mound and moat are adjacent to the renowned 12th Century Kilpeck church described by Simon Jenkins as England's most perfect Norman church which is just 200 yards from the Inn's front door. The Inn opened as a small village pub known as The Red Lion around 1750 and held an important role in village life for over 250 years. In 2005 it sadly closed and repeated attempts were made by the new owners to get planning for conversion to a private house. A vigorous Save Our Pub' campaign successfully fought this and the pub was then bought by its current owner and after 18 months of sensitive restoration it re-opened as The Kilpeck Inn in May 2010.Our creature comforts:In all our bedrooms we offer: Quality pocket sprung mattresses pure crisp Egyptian cotton sheets soft down filled duvets and pillowsContemporary en-suite marble bathrooms with Arran Aromatic toiletriesHairdryers and wooden hangersLarge flat screen TVs with built-in DVD players we provide a selection of films to borrowCoffee and tea making supplies with china mugs to make you feel at home. Our Green credentials:We think we could be the greenest pub in the UK. Garway Moon Inn, Hereford
Prices from 70.0 per night.
The Garway Moon Inn is a busy privately-owned 18th Century free house and country inn situated overlooking Garway Common - this is the place to eat drink and relax in an informal environment which welcomes muddy boots kids and dogs! The bed and breakfast accommodation is located above the bar and has three beautiful en suite rooms all newly renovated to a very high standard. Whilst staying with us you will also enjoy traditional pub food that is homemade with quality ingredients sourced from surrounding farms together with a good selection of local real ales ciders and wine. From the 12th to the 16th centuries the manor of Garway was owned by the Knights Templars and the Knights Hospitallers. It is likely that there has been an Inn at some location in Garway since the arrival of the Knights Templar. However we believe that the Moon originated as a farm building in the early 18th centuary with the farmer turning his hand to cider making to supplement his income.Garway is in a beautiful setting on a south-facing slope of the Monnow valley in Herefordshire. We overlook 23 acres of common land with Wales and the Black Mountains in the background. First and foremost the objective of most people staying with us is to relax. The setting is untouched by major tourism noise pollution or any significant modern infrastructure. We are surrounded by large farming communities and as such visitors can really enjoy a countryside that is fast disappearing across most of the UK.There are many activities that you can partake in whilst staying with us. They include outdoor pursuits such as rock climbing golf fishing and shooting or visiting places such as the Golden Valley and Brecon Beacons. Other local attractions also include the Herefordshire Cider Route and local Food Festivals such as Hereford Ludlow or Abergavenny.
