We have seen deer and squirrels on the lawns buzzards and sparrowhawks circling above. Woodpeckers jays tree creepers chaffinches blue tits and coal tits are among the many different visitors to our bird tables. On a warm day the rockeries and wild gardens are teeming with butterflies and insects. On a clear night the night sky is amazing. With no light pollution the star constellations are crystal clear.The cottage is ideal for walkers with immediate access to an extensive network of bridleways that run through woodland and by streams for long peaceful walks. Sleeping arrangements are ideal for a young family as parents can settle the children in bed then enjoy a meal in the adjacent sitting room or BBQ outside with the children within earshot. However children will need to be under supervision in the gardens by the streams.Little Ash is situated in the most perfect location for a holiday in Devon midway between Dartmoor and Exmoor. The North Devon Coast is only half an hour away featuring the famous coastal villages of Clovelly and Braunton Sands; From the nearest large coastal town - Barnstaple a busy bus station serves the whole of the North Devon coast and countryside. Exeter is 35 minutes away and can be reached by train. Newquay and other well known beaches popular with surfers in Cornwall are about one hour away by car. The owners are on hand to help plan activities and days out. There is a huge variety of things to see and do in the local area. Little Ash is midway between Dolton and Chulmleigh (4.5 miles) where there are well stocked village shops and pubs. There is fishing at Stafford Moor Fishery golf at ChulmleighHigh Bullen Libbaton and Torrington and cycling on the Tarka Trail (bicycles can be hired locally). There are antique shops in Torrington and Umberleigh. Family attractions include Torrington 1646 The Big Sheep and The Milky Way near Bideford The Quince Honey farm in South Molton. There are many interesting and beautiful gardens in Devon open for charity (National Gardens Scheme) and RHS Rosemoor is less than 10 miles away. Dartington Crystal at Torrington is well worth a visit.
