Glacier National Park is the biggest recreation draw to this area of Montana. Kandahar Lodge is located an hour's drive from the west entrance of the Park. The scenic beauty of the Park leaves no one untouched. Park activities include interpretive tours in the red buses or by Blackfeet Indians, day and overnight hikes, boat rides, horse back rides, river rafting and fishing. Cross-country skiing trails are plentiful near the Base Lodge at the Resort, on the golf course in Whitefish and in several locations near Whitefish. Snowmobiling is available from the Summit of Big Mountain and on public lands throughout the Flathead Valley. Whitefish has an indoor skating rink and the Wave that offers a swimming pool, exercise equipment and classes. Whitefish is a small friendly town with one main street (Central Avenue) that has a collection of excellent restaurants, fun pubs, eclectic shopping, a brewery, museum and art galleries. During the winter the free S.N.O.W. bus offers transportation to and from the Resort with several stops in town.
