John's House is a private secluded self-contained 2 bedroom 2 bathroom home away from home and it's the perfect place to relax discover and escape. We like to think John's House is a destination in itself with huge lawns and extensive gardens and magnificent trees on 8 hectares of biologically farmed land by the Karamu Stream less than five minutes drive from Havelock North and close to wonderful Hawke's Bay wineries.We love and cherish our property and enjoy sharing it with our guests. It's a paradise for children we'll even offer to babysit or find a responsible surrogate. Your pets are welcome too but by prior arrangement please. We have a dog cat pigs hens ducks and cattle of our own so some rules apply! You're welcome to enjoy our gardens and swimming pool.We named the place John's House as a tribute to and in memory of two men who deserve a place in Hawke's Bay and New Zealand history.About John PattisonJohn Gordon Pattison (1917 2009) was a WW2 Spitfire pilot one of the Battle of Britain few' decorated with Legion de Honeur DSO and DFC. He returned with English bride Pauline after the war and farmed sheep and beef in Central Hawke's Bay raising four boys. John and Pauline (1919 1993) retired to live in John's House'. John spent his final twenty years happily continuing to enjoy a full and active life and entertaining his many friends. We retain some memorabilia in the house and the bookshelves contain many books which the curious and those with an interest in history find fascinating.About John ScottJohn Colin Scott (JC) designed this amazing house in 1989. A celebrated NZ architect this is one of his last projects and arguably amongst his best. The design has stood the test of time and as the surrounding landscape matures it just gets better and better. Most agree that the house is an architectural triumph but the true magic is experienced staying here and appreciating John's extraordinary ability to maximise sunlight throughout the day and the seasons.
