Dead Can Dance

Dead Can Dance se formó en Melbourne en 1981 a iniciativa de Lisa Gerrard, vocalista, y Brendan Perry, guitarrista y segunda voz. Ambos compartían sus raíces anglo-irlandesas y su dilección por la música de sus antepasados, a la que añadían una fascinación por los instrumentos del Medioevo y por el romanticismo gótico. Por esa razón, al dar sus primeros pasos fueron etiquetados como un grupo gótico, aunque pronto se constataría que su música abarcaba un espectro mucho más amplio.

Su primer disco, titulado con el nombre del grupo, apareció en marzo de 1984. Era un compendio del trabajo realizado durante los últimos cuatro años, incluyendo el citado ‘The Fatal Impact’.

Su estilo poco convencional no pasó ...

Arranca la segunda mitad del año, y tras una motivadora (pero no como las del Bambino) charla técnica en los vestuarios de Mamushka, salimos dispuestos a cagarlos a pelotazos. Después de tejer intrincados planes malévolos, escribir incontables textos con nuestra habitual comicidad boluda y lenguaje barroco, rebotar por millones de reductos nocturnos, prestarnos a un par de DJSets (aprovechamos para agradecer a la organización y a la asistencia de nuestro bloque en el Ciudad Emergente, que olvidáramos chivear en esta sucursal), y cerrar asociaciones ilícitas con creadores de variopintas y deformes melodías, por fin estamos listos para empezar a deslizarles algo de todo esto. La semana que viene sacaremos dos nuevos discos a través de nuestro sello, y dentro de dos semanas tendremos una fechita muy jugosa (por mencionar sólo lo que se viene a corto plazo). Pero los detalles de todo eso se los contaremos a su debido tiempo, para no saturar, porque la novedad de hoy es otra. Ésssssta!:
