The country house and the tobacco building have been transformed into guest housing with the classic farmhouse external staircase giving access to the two upper floors where there are 10 rooms each with a private bathroom. The animal stalls and storage from the original ground floor barn are now a large common living room with an country fireplace that consists of 3 century old stonework a small anteroom and a dining room. Several of the additional farm buildings have been modernized to create individual guest rooms each with independent entries and two of them are equipped to accommodate handicapped guests. All the annex rooms have direct and independent outside access so we can easily welcome guests with animals.Your stay at our guest house includes breakfast and restaurant service can be arranged for dinner (the classic half pension). The individual bathrooms have glass shower cabinets modern toilets and sinks and come with courtesy soap and shampoo.The warmth and welcoming sensation come in great part form the materials used in the complete reconstruction of this building. This includes the handmade terracotta floor and ceiling tiles the antique chestnut wood moldings and the visible roof beams. Original pieces of the first house appear here and there such as the niches transformed into room closets the original window frames set into the internal walls and the many recuperated roof beams.The use of chestnut wood local stone and handmade terracotta tiles combine well with simple country style furniture and the handcrafted solid wood doors of the closets hung with long country style handmade hinges. All has been designed and built specifically for Pian di Marte Country House with much of the furniture coming from workshops in Guatemala even the simple Franciscan style benches designed by us to reflect the pews in the old church.Along with the 10 guest rooms there are 4 lodgings with independent entrances three of which are located in the redesigned farm building next door and one of which is on the ground floor in a quiet external corner of the main building in the shadow of the church bell tower. These four lodgings guarantee maximum privacy and autonomy and permit you to even bring along your small pets without any extra cost. La Pergola (the arbor suite) is a suite composed of a private bathroom with a crystal shower stall a bedroom with a queen-sized bed with a romantic tent roof and a large living room with a sofa bed and table and chairs. A large glass door opens up to a private external space just for this suite where you can relax on sunny days under the shade of the pergola from which this suite takes it name.La Piccola (the little one) is the suite incorporated in the main building on the ground floor with its own private entrance around the back of the building. This makes it the coolest room in the heat of the summer and it too has an external table and chairs with an umbrella. In the winter the room is warm and cozy. It consists of a small living room with an iron dormeuse that serves as a couch and a large bedroom with a double bed that can also be converted into two single beds with space for a third single bed. This room is completely handicap accessible with a bathroom equipped especially for special guests. La Casetta (the little house) is in a structure originally used as an animal barn. Now it is a large room with a double bed and a sofa bed that opens up into a double bed as well for use by families. This room is also completely accessible to handicapped visitors with a specially equipped bathroom. The room has its own external garden space with an umbrella table and chairs. La Spiovente (the sloped ceiling suite) suite has a double bedroom that also comes with a small sitting room with a table and chairs. The name of the room comes from the sloping roof that has visible roof beams small windows modeled on the ones in the old storage room vintage decorations and a curious curving wall that gives the room its own charm and warmth. The private bathroom has a crystal-doored shower cabinet and the private entrance to this suite is directly across from the main door to the large living area on the ground floor of the main building.

Le Burgne is a marvellous farmhouse from the 800's positioned on the Umbra hillside in an enviable position on the border between Umbria and Tuscany. Overlooking the High Tiber Valley at 500m asl it dominates the entire valley: from Città di Castello Monte S. Maria Tiberina Anghiari Citerna and as far as Monterchi in Toscany. The building has been renovated keeping intact the fascination of the main house the external architectural structure has remained unchanged as has the interior characterised by stone walls wooden beams and original floors. The stone entrance has an antique wood burning oven still in working order a symbol of the long lost rural culture. On the ground floor where previously were the stalls is a large living room with two brick arches and a stone and terracotta fireplace. On the ground floor there is also a kitchen the reception a bar and two bathrooms (one of which has access for disabled .) On the first floor there are five spacious ensuite bedrooms and a reading corner. The park (8000 sm. circa) has a pine wood a picnic area with tables and chairs and a barbecue for the guests to use. The exterior complex has a volley ball field bocce a soccer field and a children's play area with swings and slides. Down a series of stone steps there is the spacious terrace with a panoramic view (overlooking the splendid Umbro Tuscany countryside) and the salt water swimming pool with water massage. The farmhouse is part of 21ettari circa farmland where vineyards olive plants chestnut trees fruit trees and sheep and goats are taken care of by the owner. The red and white wine produced is of excellent quality as is the oil and honey. For those who wish to be at one with nature it is possible in the autumn to take part in the grape harvest and the harvest of chestnuts and olives. On request we organise trips to the surrounding areas and woods to search for mushrooms and truffles ( of which the area is rich) and excursions on mountain bike. Three km from the farm is a splendid 6 hole golf course and a well equipped stables and a wellness centre (these properties however do not belong to us). The Upper Tiber Valley is rich in artistic and architectural beauties: Città di Castello San Sepolcro (birth place of Piero della Francesco) Arezzo Cortona Perugia Assisi and Gubbio are all easily reached from the farm as are the surrounding characteristic medieval villages: Monterchi (home to the famous Madonna del Parto) CiternaMontone Monte Santa Maria Tiberina Anghiari and Pietralunga.
