Langholm known to the locals as the Muckle Toon meaning the bigtown; was in days past the largest town in the borders. It is steepedin Reiver history and that of the textile industry. It is from LangholmCastle that the famous Johnnie Armstrong mounted his daring raid onCarlisle Castle to rescue an equally daring and infamous Kilmont Willie.
